4Fun Play Kitchen  Jun 20, 2010
I have been looking for a sturdy wooden play kitchen for months. My requirements were pretty simple: wood, non-psychedelic colors, sturdy. This kitchen is great. The only downfall of the kitchen is the faucet attachment. It easily pops off which my son loves to do over and over and over again. Thankfully he has figured out how to reattach it himself so its slightly less annoying. The Melissa and Doug red pot set fit really well in the microwave and oven. Its a great product for the price.

5Successor model also great  Feb 26, 2010
I bought the successor model to this one for Christmas for my 2 year old daughter at Tar_get dotcom for less than eighty dollars (forty in shipping, natch). Our model is dark blue and the configuration is a bit different: it has real doors instead of the curtain, a back panel, and a nice set of plastic utensils and pans. It took my very handy husband about 3 hours to put it together, but he said the directions were very clear and it was straightforward to assemble. It even included extra nails, screws, etc. We had no problems with mis-drilled holes, etc. as mentioned in another review.

We are both really pleased with the quality of this wooden kitchen. It's sturdy, has a small footprint without sacrificing any necessary kitchen components, and it looks fantastic. No gaudy plastic or gender-specific colors for this kitchen. Two toddlers can play at it without an excess of shoving. We haven't had any concerns about tipping, though our girl is well past the pulling-up-on-things stage. You might want to anchor it into the wall if you're worried.

Most importantly, my daughter LOVES this set. She probably plays with it for two hours a day, and that's been for two months now. It's been fun to see her pretend play grow to encompass cooking, chopping, washing, and occasionally drilling and hammering, with this kitchen.

Absolutely money well spent.

5Great kitchen for a Little Boy  Jan 07, 2010
All he wanted for Christmas was a kitchen. He brought Santa a picture cut from a magazine, to make sure that Santa knew what he wanted. He never wavered even a little bit, all December-long, which is saying a lot for a three year old. So we got this kitchen for my son. It is well constructed, very solid and a good size. Not too big, but large enough that he can actually play with it. It did take a couple hours to assemble, but that's worth it to know that we have a solid piece that our children can play with for years. The only thing is that the picture shows some pots hanging from the pot rack, but there isn't anything on the pot rack to hang pot from (we bought pots and toy food separately). But there's enough storage space under the oven and sink to keep all the accessories there.

1Incorrectly cut part made us return it  Dec 18, 2009
I was very dissatisfied with this product. The directions were very minimal, but the biggest disappointment was that it was cut incorrectly. Everything EXCEPT the left side did fit together; but the left side had been cut incorrectly. (like the template was turned around backwards) because the slot in the back was in the front, the holes didn't match up and would NOT go together even if I tried some clever carpentry. We boxed it back up and returned it. Amazon was really nice about making that process easy. We ended up buying another different one at the Target store and it was much better.

4Small Play Kitchen  Dec 12, 2009
I purchased this set for my 18 month old toddler. I like that it is wooden, and that it has such a small footprint - we don't have a lot of space for large toys. My son plays with it constantly, opening and closing the doors, turning the knobs, and ripping out the faucet. Yes, he can remove it easily. It is one of two parts that need to be screwed on by the purchaser as the plastic dowel that holds it on is not up to the job. The other part is the horizontal bar above the sink, as other reviewers have mentioned. Another part that needs attention is the top corner of the oven door. It is a very sharp corner and could benefit from a good sanding to take the edge off.
Assembly is aided by a drill - it took me about two hours, but my toddler was "helping" me, so probably 1-1.5 hours if you can get some time to yourself. Good product for the price.
Also, there is one small difference from the product photo - the oven door handle is vertical, not horizontal and has hinges along the right side - it does not open like a real oven door. You could cause it to if you have the time and inclination.
