Cute Set for the Price Feb 23, 2010 We surprised our twin 20 month old daughters with this pink retro kitchen set for Christmas. We stocked it with pots and pans, dinnerware, felt food and the Kid Kraft coffee maker and mixing bowl set. It was a hit! I too was drooling over the Pottery Barn retro pink set--agh, but the cost! So we settled with this one. With twins you need more working space--and more storage. So I ended up buying the white pie cabinet from PB anyway to go with this kitchen set. It works like an accent piece. The quality of PB is much better--it's more solid and durable than Kid Kraft and you do not see the screw holes. PB uses solid wood--Kid Kraft is MDF board. The Kid Kraft set has only been mildly used since Dec 25 and I've already had to contact Customer Service for replacement knobs (clickers inside the knobs broke)and we've had to tighten the hinges several times as they continue to come loose. The CS dept is good and I'm awaiting replacements as I write this.
Bottom line: You get what you pay for.
Great Kitchen Set for little girls! Feb 20, 2010 My daughter got this for Christmas when she was only 14 months old. Her and my 4 year old son love to play with it. Now that she is 18 months old, it is the perfect size for her and she is really enjoying it. It seems to be very durable/heavy duty especially compared to those hard plastic kitchens that I don't feel hold up as well. My husband put it together easily in a small amount of time. It has quite a bit of storage for all her kitchen accessories, which was a must for us when I was looking at all the different kitchen sets. This is a great toy to encourage creativity and make-believe play with young children. My kids play with it for hours. You will not be sorry you bought this kitchen!!!!
very good choice! Feb 12, 2010 This gift was a home run for my niece "from Santa" who visited her at our house as well as her own. Which hopefully my sister and I can rotate as needed, depending on the sex of what child we have next. I would definitely recommend this product. Maranda, TX
Super Cute Feb 10, 2010 I bought this for my 2yr old daughter and she absolutely loves it!
Set-up: These were honestly the easiest pieces I've ever put together and I've purchased a lot of various items from Sears, JC Penney, Cost Plus, Pier One, Pottery Barn, Target. This was the first time that all pre-drilled items were accurate and instructions were simple.
Quality: The wood is better than most compressed wood items - sturdy and appear to be durable although time will tell on that. I've read that paint chips easily but that can also be easily fixed. Only recommendation would be to have better quality handles and faucet - they felt cheap and worried they would crack when attaching but once attached, they feel they will survive my daughter's playtime. The faucet looked so real, though, that she questioned why the water wasn't coming out - was very funny.
Fun: My daughter woke up Sat morning and immediately saw the kitchen set - I couldn't draw her away from it for over an hour - and being 2yrs old most activities have a max fun/attention grabber of 20min.
Overall: I would recommend this to others - much better quality than other kitchen sets I've looked at, better appearance than plastic sets and great price for a wood set.
Fun, durable and easy construction Feb 08, 2010 The Kidcraft Retro Kitchen and Refrigerator (pink) has provided hours entertainment, not only for the 2 year old that we purchased it for, but for her 7 & 9 year old syblings as well. Both pieces have proven to be very durable and I found that the initial construction was not overly complicated (it tooke about 1 hour).
